Tuesday, October 19, 2004Some Vision and some Links I am just about recovering from Mark Mumford and Steve Perkins visit to us last week. They have been around and talked to everyone and are processing what they have heard and seen. It seems overall that it is encouraging news, we are building community and are moving forward together. It was my hope that their visit would prove to be a time of transition for us as a community 2 years in. Based on early feedback I think that will prove to be the case. The reason I started this ramble was because of a reinteration in my heart that we should build multiple churches reaching multiple people groups - whether that be in homes, cafes or through kid's clubs. I believe part of this transition will be the new release of energies, the new release of initiatives and the new release of risk-taking in mission. That is in addition to clear support structures to make those viable. Then I suddenly realise that transition times can be quite hard work. God help us!! If you are interested you may like to know that my paper on incarnational mission is now online at organicchurch: Incarnational Mission. Over there you will find some other things I have written [mostly while studying at KBCTC], like The role of the Church Leader in Culture, Don't you just read it?; and Two worlds collide. Also you may be interested in reading the latest update from Vineyard Central, [a community of Home Churches] as they continue their journey. It is far too long, but the first couple of pages are interesting!! I should probably clarify that I haven't looked at their stuff much and therefore they haven't been much of an influence on where we are at [i didn't even get our subtitle from them, honest!!].
